8:55 – 9:25 – Kevin Roughton of NMIT will address the Engineering program they offer. Certificate in Basic Mechanical engineering and Certificate in Engineering. NMIT’s location, costs and expectations associated with the program.
9:30 – 10:30am – Martella - John Phibbs, John will spend some time with us in the Martella shop and introduce the company and what role they play. We will then go over to New World to look at their refrigeration plants and how Martella services them.
10:30 - morning tea.
10:45 – 11:45 – Truform Stainless – Trevor Gibson will host us here and take us on a tour of Truform Stainless. Trevor will address what opportunities exist at Truform, what role they play in the Industry.
11:45 – 12:25 – Lunch
12:30 – 1:15 - Eckford Engineering: Phillip Gleeson will speak to the group about the role Eckford plays in the industry. How he got involved, some of his passions.
1:15 – 1:45 Blenheim Engineering Supplies – Terry Knight will address the group about BES and their role in the industry. He will speak about retail sales, industry sales, marketing, inventory, and opportunities.
2:00 - 3:00 – Cuddons Engineering Bruce Hitchcock - will take them through the expectations of an employee in that shop. Different areas of expertise within their business. Transferable skills, salary expectations, Customer Service. Technology Chat with them about the industry.
3:00 - Trade Link Marlborough - The end of the day will be a debriefing on where to go from here. Explanation of what is available to the school leavers in order get into the Engineering industry. Evaluations.
3:15 - Finish for the day.
